Itinerary Details

Day 1 – Dublin, Tehran

Depart Dublin to London Heathrow to connect with overnight flight to Tehran with British Airways.

Day 2 – Tehran

Early morning arrival and transfer to the Azadi Grand (or similar) includes immediate occupancy and breakfast for 2 nights. Afternoon visit to Tehran’s museums. Overnight Tehran.

Day 3 – Shiraz

After breakfast check out and transfer to airport for flight to Shiraz. Guided city tour of Shiraz including visits to the Hafez and Saadi tombs, the Narenjestan-e-Ghavam historical house, the Nasir-ol-Molk mosque and the Vakil bazaar. Check in to the Pars International Hotel (or similar) for 2 nights. Overnight Shiraz.

Day 4 – Persepolis, Naghsh-e-Rostam

Persepolis, Naghsh-e-Rostam. Overnight Shiraz.

Day 5 – Pasargadae, Yazd

Drive to Yazd, via Pasargadae, the first dynastic capital of the Achaemenian empire, founded by Cyrus the Great in the 6th century BC. View the Mausoleum of Cyrus the Great, Tall-e-Takhte and the residential palace. Stay at the Dad Hotel (or similar) for 2 nights. Overnight Yazd.

Day 6 – Yazd

Full-day tour to the Dowlat-Abad garden, the Zoroastrian fire temple, an abandoned Zoroastrian ‘Tower of Silence’ and the Jameh mosque. Other highlights include the Amir Chakhmaq complex. Overnight Yazd.

Day 7 – Na’in, Isfahan

Drive to Isfahan, stopping at Na’in to view the Jameh mosque and Pirnia House. Stay at the Abbasi Hotel (or similar) for 3 nights. Overnight Isfahan.

Day 8 – Isfahan

Full-day tour of the city’s monuments, including Naghsh-e Jahan Square, the Imam and Sheikh Lotfollah mosques, and the Khaju Bridge. Conclude with a visit to the Ali Qapu palace. Overnight Isfahan.

Day 9 – Isfahan

Full-day visit to the Vank Cathedral, the Chehel Sotoun palace and the Jameh mosque of Isfahan, which is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight Isfahan.

Day 10 – Natanz, Kashan, Tehran

Drive to Tehran, stopping at Natanz and Kashan en route to visit the Fin gardens and the former merchant’s house of Taba-Tabai. Stay at the Novotel Hotel close to Tehran airport (or similar) for 1 night.

Day 11 – Teheran, Dublin

Morning at leisure. Transfer to the airport for flight to London with British Airways and onwards to Dublin.

Azadi Grand, Tehran

Hotel rating: Good Standard

The Azadi is one of the biggest hotels in Iran and is the tallest hotel in Tehran, providing excellent views of the Alborz mountains and the city. The hotel has a modern design. Please note that credit cards are not accepted and only cash can be used within the hotel.

The Pars International hotel is situated on the most important street of the city, Karimkhan Boulevard. The hotel's restaurant serves traditional and continental cuisine.

Dad Hotel, Yazd

Hotel rating: Good Standard

Situated in a historic house dating back to early 20th century and located in Yazd's historic centre, close to the main tourist attractions including Zoroastrians' Fire Temple and Amir Chakhmagh complex. The hotel's public areas are reminiscent of Persia's past with impressive original and restored features including a beautiful domed ceiling. The Dad hotel has a central courtyard around which the modern yet simple rooms are situated. Please note that the indoor swimming pool opens for men and women on alternate days. Please also note that the hotel does not accept credit cards.

Abbasi Hotel, Isfahan

The Abbasi Hotel is located in the heart of the city, close to Isfahan's historical sights. The large central courtyard is filled with flowers and fountains in the style of Safavid caravanserais, the public areas of the hotel have beautiful Persian decoration and paintings. Built in the 1960s, on the site of an 18th-century caravanserai, the hotel lobby walls and ceiling decorations, the restaurants and some of the suites have traditional Persian-style features from the Safavid period. Some of the rooms have private balconies while others overlook the landscaped garden.

All guest rooms feature white linens and soft pastel colours. The hotel is ideal for travellers who have an early flight the following day.

Termez is located in the far south of the country, close to an ancient crossing over the amu darya river leading into afghanistan. The location of the city has changed throughout history due to a succession of invaders. The first settlement was established in the third century bc. Ghengis khan then destroyed the city in 1220, leaving the inhabitants to rebuild in its current location on the left bank of the amu darya river. Much of the modern city dates from the early 19th century and, during the soviet era, was effectively closed to the outside world.

A former capital of iran, the city of kerman has a wealth of historical attractions including the renowned zoroastrian fire temples. This 4-day extension explores this culturally rich city.

  • Option 3 Mashad - 3 nights from €1,600.00

The shrine of imam reza in mashhad is one of holiest sites in islam. On this 3-night extension, enter the outer precincts of the shrine and explore the rest of this fascinating town.

Important Information

  • Passport: your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
  • Climate: The best time to visit Iran is during the spring and autumn. There are ideal temperatures across most of Iran from March until May and then again from late September to early November. Meanwhile, winter is best avoided because temperatures can become very cold.
  • Visa: a tourist entry visa is required.
  • Vaccinations: please check with your local GP or Tropical Medicine Centre for up to date information.
  • Standard of hotels: this tour is based on the equivalent of 4 and 5 * accommodation as per local gradings however standards may not necessarily be compatible with or comparable to those here in Europe.
  • Dress code: Iran is an Islamic Republic and visitors are required to conform to the Islamic dress code. For women, it is essential that all the body is covered, except the hands and face.
  • Extensions: this tour may be extended to include visits to Termez, Kerman or Mashad as outlined. Flights will be booked to correspond with your chosen option. Extensions must be requested with the initial booking.
