Recently built in typical local style, the Parador is on the site of the house of Gaspar de Portola the discoverer of California. The traditional mountain design is continued in the wooden beams in the cosy attic bedrooms. The lounges are spacious and tastefully decorated and the Salon Chimenea particularly stands out. There is a bar and restaurant featuring regional dishes as well as a unique swimming pool that is half in and half outside the building, allowing you the experience of outdoor swimming among the beautiful and, depending on the time of year, snowcapped mountains.
The Parador is located at the entrance to the town of Artíes, 7 km from Vielha, where you exit from the N-230, taking the road to Baqueira Beret ski resort (7 km away). Artíes is 170 km from Lleida, the provincial capital.
In the Catalan Pyrenees, the village Artíes is 170 kilometres from Leida, the capital of the province. The Parador is located at the entrance to the town. Vall de Boí, a World Heritage site and a fantastic example of Romanesque churches, is an hour to the South of Arties and borders the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
