Occupying a building from the 15th century which once housed the Hospital of St. John the Baptist, this convent style Parador is set in peaceful and quiet surroundings. The public rooms have ancient maps, engravings and tile plaques. There are also low copper braziers once used to warm the pilgrims who came here to worship at the shrine of the Virgin of Guardalupe. The welcoming bedrooms are decorated in a rustic style and offer guests the usual comfort and amenities and most feature four poster beds. A courtyard with citrus trees surrounds the Parador, and there are terraces and views across the patio to the garden and secluded swimming pool. The simple but delicious local cooking is served in the excellent restaurant.
The Parador is located in the centre of a small town, near the Royal Monastery, a World Heritage Site. When traveling from Madrid (A-5) or the northern peninsula (N-630), the point of reference is Navalmoral de la Mata, 65 km from the Parador. From Cáceres, take the N-521 to Trujillo. Take the exit for the N-430 towards Ciudad Real. In Obando, turn left onto the EX-116 in the direction of Guadalupe.
