Parador de Olite

This Parador is located in the town of the same name in the Navarra region of Spain. It occupies a wing of a castle-palace built in the early 14th century as a summer residence by King Charles III of Navarre. The exterior of the building features many towers, battlements and Gothic windows, and the medieval atmosphere is maintained in the interior, with archways, stained glass, wooden furniture, armour, wrought-iron chandeliers and richly coloured wall hangings. The town of Olite, with its many bodegas (cellars), is known as the wine capital of Navarre, and the restaurant offers a variety of local wines to go with its regional dishes. Bedrooms are well designed and fully equipped. There is a salon with a fireplace to sit and relax in.
