In 1437 the Duke of Feria ordered the building of a magnificent fortress in Zafra – now the luxurious Parador de Zafra. It still has the original nine towers, in the Moorish style, and there are also Baroque elements dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, when the fortress was converted into a palace. The grand interior of the Parador recalls its ducal past, with coffered ceilings, ironwork, large chests and other decorative details preserved from the old palace. In warm weather, guests may sit out in the beautiful arcaded courtyard, relax in the outdoor pool, or simply enjoy the well-tended garden. The bedrooms, as befits a Parador with this heritage, are noble, elegant and spacious. Have a drink in the bar before savouring some of the most delicious local and regional dishes in the restaurant.
Zafra is 141 km from Seville and 60 km from Mérida via the Ruta de la Plata (N-630). It is 73 km from Badajoz via the N-432 (Badajoz-Granada). The Parador is located in the city center.
This Parador is located in the centre of the town, next to the Santa Marina church. Zafra is between Seville (141 km) and Mérida (60 km) along the ‘Ruta de la Plata’ (Silver Route).
