On this 6 day tour we will revisit the life and times of Martin Luther. We will visit St Mary’s Church in Wittenberg where Luther preached his Reform, got married and had his children baptised. We will visit his family home – Luther House. We will call to the Augustinian monastery in Erfurt where Luther lived as a monk. In Eisenach we will visit the house where Luther lived; The Wartburg Castle where he lived in disguise as "Knight George;" and St. George's Church, where he was a choir boy and later preached. In Eisleben we will see the houses where Luther was born and died - both now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit St. Peter & Paul Church where he was baptized and St. Andrews Church were Luther preached his last sermon in 1546.

Depart Dublin to Berlin. On arrival transfer to Lutherstadt Wittenberg known as the ‘Birthplace of the Reformation’.
It was here where Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church and where he is buried. We will visit the Luther House - largest Reformation museum in the world. It was once home to the Luther family and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight in Wittenberg. Berlin to Wittenberg 115 km (1 ½ hr)
Friday 11 May
Celebrate Mass in Wittenberg before departing to Leipzig. In Leipzig, visit St. Thomas Church, the final resting place of the composer, Johann Sebastian Bach, and St. Nicholas Church, the oldest and largest church in Leipzig. Continue to Erfurt for overnight. Wittenberg to Leipzig 72 km (1 hr 20 mins) Leipzig to Erfurt 146 km (1 hr 35 mins)
Saturday 12 May
Erfurt was one of the most significant places in Martin Luther's life – here is where he studied, became a monk, and was later ordained a priest. Visit St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Severi Church, Merchant's Bridge (has the longest series of inhabited buildings on any bridge in Europe), and the Old Synagogue which is one of the very few preserved medieval synagogues in Europe. Overnight Erfurt.
Sunday 13 May
Following breakfast excursion to Eisenach - the town where Martin Luther translated the New Testament from Greek into German in Wartburg Castle. The town is also birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach. Visits to Bachhaus, a museum dedicated to the composer and Lutherhaus, home to Martin Luther for a few years before attending University.
Return to Erfurt for overnight. Erfurt to Eisenach 70 km (1 hr) each way
Monday 14 May
Following breakfast return to Berlin via Mansfeld and Eisleben. Martin Luther's family moved to Mansfeld-Lutherstadt when he was a year old and he spent his childhood and early youth here. However Lutherstadt Eisleben was his hometown – he was born here in 1483. He returned many times throughout his life and then died here in 1546. Overnight Berlin. Erfurt to Mansfeld 85 km (1 hr) Mansfeld to Eisleben 18 km (25 mins) Eisleben to Berlin 205 km (2 ¾ hrs)
Tuesday 15 May
Morning at leisure in Berlin. Transfer to Berlin Airport for flight back to Dublin departing at 18.15 hrs.
